CBTC Launching Ceremony
Posted on June 23rd, 2016
Last Monday, June 20th, 2016, we organized a whole-morning event for the Launching Ceremony of the China-Belgium Technology Center. This business center is planned to be built in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, at the heart of the Science Park of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, with partners such as the Chinese group United Investment Group, the Belgian University of Louvain-la-Neuve, the Walloon Agency for Exportation and Foreign Investments (AWEX), and the local development agency IBW. The involvement of the authorities of the province of Hubei (China) and the Walloon Region (Belgium) were key to the success of this initiative.
Aiming to host 200 innovative and technologic companies from China and Europe upon its completion, the CBTC is a one-of-a-kind project, which deserved a striking launching ceremony. An official delegation from the province of Hubei visited Belgium for the occasion. Chinese Governor HOU Chang’An highlighted the event by his presence. On the other side, VIP guests included Walloon Minister-President, Mr. Paul Magnette and Rector of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Mr. Vincent Blondel.
After a visit to the field of the project, and the unveiling of a brand new “CBTC” trophy, a press conference gathered more than 30 Belgian and Chinese press representatives for a wide coverage of the event. The press conference was followed by the official ceremony, and more than 70 selected guests enjoyed Chinese cultural and musical performances during the cocktail lunch reception – including Chinese paintings, opera singing and traditional folk music.
