The China Arts Festival in the EU settled down in Budapest, Hungary, to hold a double-sided cultural and artistic event: the exhibition “Amazing Shanghai” and the “Shanghai 360° Immersive Panoramic Photography Installation” (“Shanghai 360° Experience”), in the heart of the Hungarian capital. That series of event was developed to amplify a new modern vision of Shanghai, boost its cultural influence and communicate its true emotional identity to people around the world. The events in Budapest aimed to strengthen the bond between the two friendly cities: Shanghai and Budapest, to present the culture of Shanghai to Hungarian public, to promote the China-EU high-level people-to-people dialogue, and to advance the cultural and artistic exchanges between China and countries along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The photography exhibition showcased 80 photographs on display, showing Shanghai’s city landscape, city development, cultural characteristics and heritage, and urban images of the metropolis. It was held at Akvarium Klub, an true institution at the core of Budapest’s cultural and artistic life. The Shanghai 360° Experience featured a circular 5-meter high picture that presented a panorama of Shanghai. The creative panoramic rotunda enabled the public to experience photography of the megacity in a whole new dimension: viewers could literally immerse themselves in the picture and feel like actually being in Shanghai! The installation was open to the public at Erzsébet tér, a place packed of local people, youngsters and families, coming to enjoy the sun.
