In April 2015, an original initiative was launched by the Mission of China to the EU to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic ties. A creative contest, called China Unlimited Creative Contest, was opened to all EU member states citizens and took place mostly online between April and August 2015. Participants could upload pictures, videos, fine arts or essays somehow expressing their vision of China or China-EU relationship.

Atlas International Culture was appointed to manage the whole operations for the contest, including the original contest structure, the daily management of the contest and applications, the awarding ceremony and theĀ  communication management along the contest and especially to organize the trip to China, awarded to the 15 winners. Other assignments also included the production of promotion videos, the organization of an exhibition, the sponsorship management, etc.

Our team also managed the voting system and the two juries: 1 professional jury of artists, journalists and diplomats, and 1 grand jury with prestigious members:

  • Ambassador YANG Yanyi, head of the Mission of China to the EU
  • Mr. Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner in charge of Education and Culture
  • Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Primer Minister of Belgium, in charge of Foreign and European Affairs
  • Mrs. Eva Paunova, youngest MEP and ambassador for the contest
  • Mr. Franco Dragone, world-known Belgian artistic director and show creator.

In total, more than 500 contributions from 350 participants from almost each one of the EU member states were sent. They were first submitted to the comments and “likes” of the general public: 1200 comments and an incredible 40 000 likes were made to support people’s favorite artworks! In the end, 15 winners and 1 winner from the kids category have been chosen by the public and the juries: candidates from all age (from 9 to 67 years old) and from all horizons and countries (Czech Republic, Belgium, UK, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, …) were awarded with a trip to China. The awarding ceremony took place in Brussels in September 2015 and prizes were handed over by Mrs. LIU Yandong, China’s Vice-Premier.
