On July 10th, 200 Chinese and European guests gathered in Brussels for « The Belt and Road China-EU Forum on Regional Promotion », key event of the 3rd China Arts Festival in the EU. The Forum addressed the EU-China cooperation in the fields of tourism and regional promotion, and was a preparatory event for the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year. VIP guests took the floor during the first part of the event: H.E. Madam Yang Yanyi, Ambassador of China to the EU, Mr. Shen Haixiong, General Director of the Publicity Department of Guangdong, Mr. Istvan Ujhelyi, MEP and President of the OBOR Committee and Dr. Eric Philippart, Responsible for the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year.
The second part presented panelists from the private and public organizations. They have respectively explained their initiatives and projects in terms of tourism policy. The panelists included Jacopo Sertoli, president of the Welcome Chinese project, Finnair Group Vice-President Mikko Turtiainen, European Travel Commission CEO Eduardo Santander and Dominique Andre, representative of Wallonia-Belgium Tourism for new markets. On the Chinese side, Wang Guike, president of the Guangdong Publishing Group, and Xiong Yifang, co-founder of an innovative drone company based in Guangdong, both expressed the importance of their business in the regional promotion initiatives of Guangdong. On the side of the Forum, an exhibition was held to showcase the province of Guangdong at its best: innovation, economy, and willingness to cooperate with Belgium and the EU.
